Introduction

The symposium addresses key progress in the field on Quantum sensing. It is now becoming apparent that quantum-spin and photon manipulation techniques using solid-state qubits can be used for ultraprecise quantum metrology in physics, material science, or applied cross disciplinary to chemistry and biology. Some examples are magnetometry, imaging of nano-electronic circuits, high performance sensing elements to reach single-molecular sensitivity and resolution, NMR quantum techniques for detecting chemical composition of single molecules or reading signals in neural cells. This symposium aims to bridge the highlighted topics by inviting abstracts for quantum technologies that require cutting-edge developmental efforts in the quantum-device field, material science and quantum sensing.

The symposium focuses on material and device platforms operating solid qubit systems, such as NV centers in diamond, single defects in silicon, silicon carbide and other materials. The topics span from material technology for fabrication of ultrapure materials to physics and protocols for operating single-photon and single-spin devices. Theoretical methods dealing with defect physics and quantum sensing protocols will be discussed. Room temperature operation, decoherence phenomena, quantum entanglement, collective phenomena, spin and photon squeezed states and spin- phonon interaction states will be addressed as well. Sensing with ensembles of color centers will also be discussed.
