Introduction

We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the Fifteenth International Conference on New Directions in the Humanities, held 5-7 July 2017 at Imperial College London in London, UK.

Those participating in the conference can also have their papers published in the International Journal of Learning: a Chinese journal published in the United States with Library of Congress ISSN and indexed in Scopus: the largest abstract and citation database. Also, if they wish, participants can have their papers translated into English for the other English Journals in our The Learner Journal Collection. We welcome you to join us to this truly global conference, offering a bridge between Chinese and English language scholars and an opportunity to show your work on an international stage.

Common Ground Research Network is very experienced in academic publishing and conference curating, we dedicate ourselves to facilitate communication among different cultures and perspectives. At our conferences, delegates are from over 45 different countries. To facilitate the interaction between Chinese and English scholar, for the first year in 2017, there will be Chinese language sessions at the conference, as well as English. The delegates can choose to present or participate in either Chinese or English sessions.

First held at the University of the Aegean on the island of Rhodes in Greece in 2003, the conference has moved its location each year to different countries and continents, each offering its own perspectives on the human condition and the current state of studies of the human. This knowledge community is brought together by a shared commitment to the humanities and a concern for their future.

For each conference, a small number of Graduate Scholar Awards are given to outstanding graduate students who have an active interest in the conference themes. The Award, with its accompanying responsibilities, provides a strong professional development opportunity for graduate students at this stage in their academic careers.
