8th World Congress of Chemical Engineering (WCCE8) (WCCE)

Canada and Montréal will welcome the international chemical engineering community to the 8th World Congress of Chemical Engineering (WCCE8), at the downtown Palais des Congrès de Montréal , August 23 to 27, 2009. The organizing committee, assisted by the Canadian Society of Chemical Engineering, is enthusiastically preparing for this major event. The technical program committee, under the leadership of Professor Jamal Chaouki, is drafting the Call for Papers for early June 2008. WCCE8’s technical program will emphasize the key role played by chemical engineers from all around the world in developing the processes and products needed by humanity in a more sustainable way—as highlighted in the Congress’s overall theme “Challenges for a Changing World.” Major sessions will be organized to cover the important challenges that we are all facing: providing enough energy to make possible the pursuit of economical growth and human development; the design of processes more acceptable from an environmental and social standpoint; the invention of new materials and new biologically based processes and products that will make our life easier; and the evolution of our discipline as it will have to adapt to the increasingly complex world we are living in. Of course, the diversity of chemical engineering goes beyond these five main themes, and major sessions are planned to deal with all the contemporary issues of our discipline. Plenary lectures, delivered by prominent and highly respected professionals selected for their distinctive vision of the future, will allow congress participants to focus on what lies ahead. WCCE8 seeks to be a true global forum for chemical engineers where learning, discovering, and understanding through discussion and networking will be at the forefront of all activities.
