The International Conference on Interdisciplinary Quranic Studies

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The secretary of the 6th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students announced the themes for papers to be presented at an international Quranic studies conference set to be held concurrent with the competition.
The international Quran contest is slated to be held in January 2017 in the holy city of Mashhad, northeast Iran, and so is the International Conference on Interdisciplinary Quranic Studies, Hamid Saber Farzam said.
He noted that introducing scholarly views based on the teachings and concepts of the Holy Quran and promoting and developing interdisciplinary Quranic studies are among the objectives of the upcoming conference.
It is also aimed at encouraging students and scholars’ uplifting through studying and contemplating the Quran, he added.
According to Saber Farzam, the conference will be held in two sections: ‘Fundamentals of Interdisciplinary Quranic Studies’ and ‘Quran and Health’.
Necessity, concepts, dimensions, characteristics, current status and mythology of interdisciplinary Quranic studies are the topics to be discussed regarding the first major theme, he said.
The second one, he added, will have subthemes including theoretical and practical teachings of the Quran on different aspects of health, and clarification of various aspects of health (physical, psychological and social) in view of the Quran.
