Introduction

The purpose and scope of this two-day intensive unique single track and intellectual European Symposia - 2016 (on November 1 – 2, 2016) is to provide a forum for the discussion of the current state of the art of rapidly evolving MicroRNAs/ Noncoding RNAs, Genome Engineering/Editing and their applications in gene expression, stem cells and various diseases.

1. MicroRNAs/Noncoding RNAs& Genome Editing Europe - 2016: This is our 11th international theme conference continuously held in this college in the first week of November in Cambridge, England. Professors Julie Ahringer and Eric Miska of the University of Cambridge inaugurated our first meeting in November 2006.Since then, Nobel Laureates Drs.Tim Hunt, John Walker; and pioneers in MicroRNAs fields including: Drs. David Baulcombe (UK),Carlo Croce (USA),Gunter Meister (Germany), Mike Gait (UK), Rene Ketting (Germany) and many more have given keynote speeches. MicroRNAs/Noncoding RNAs are the “biology’s Big Bang” and we are igniting the spirit of both Micro/LNcRNomics in order to understand the biology of these molecules and their pivotal role(s) in diseases in order to develop innovative products based on this technology platform.

Additionally, Synthetic Biology and Genome Engineering using genome editing tools such as nucleases is also evolving at a rapid speed. Therefore, this meeting will also focus on the study of genome editing using ZFNs,TALENs and CRISPR/Cas systems in depth in order to develop novel reagent/assay/tool and drug targets. In this international meeting, prominent researchers (Developmental biologists, cell biologists, geneticists, molecular biologists, computational biologists, neurobiologists, clinicians, chemists, bioengineers, synthetic biologists and physicists)from both academia and industry will gather and discuss the applications in form of keynote lectures, invited talks, short oral, and poster presentations.

These meetings are open for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and professors from academia and research scientists and executives from bio-pharma industry to gain insights in the emerging frontiers in biotechnology.
