The local host of the 2017 Asian Meeting of the Econometric Society is the Department of Economics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The Department of Economics, under Faculty of Social Science, is renowned for its strength in research on the Chinese economy, economic theory and labour economics. They are actively collaborating with major institutions in China and overseas in various research projects.
