The success of Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) is now supported by large multinational companies that can leverage complementary technologies to advance this therapy for heart failure. However, many fundamental challenges remain, including the adverse effects on the vascular system and the right heart. Innovations in medicine, science, engineering, and patient management can help to address these problems, and, if coordinated across the community, will have the greatest potential to impact the field.
