Beginning with ancient traditional medicines, natural products have inspired study. Contemporary research invites collaboration across disciplines of biology, chemistry and engineering. We study the biosynthetic pathways and modes of action of these bioactive compounds, we are inspired by their complex architecture and we are motivated to test new synthetic strategies and invent chemical reactions to enable their preparation. Returning full circle, natural products research is a platform that allows us to achieve our ultimate objective of improving human health.
The 66th Gordon Research Conference on Natural Products and Bioactive Compounds features lectures describing state-of-the-art research by leaders in the fields of organic synthesis, chemical biology, rare and neglected disease research, glycochemistry, natural product isolation and biosynthesis. These presentations are intended to highlight unpublished research and stimulate discussion. In addition, several highly interactive poster sessions provide the means and opportunity for conference participants to share and discuss their own work in a comfortable and informal setting. Finally, the GRC format allows for professional and social interactions for all conference attendees.
The GRC on Natural Products and Bioactive Compounds will be held at the Proctor Academy in Andover, New Hampshire. Having hosted the conference for several years, this site has an outstanding staff and offers a picturesque and relaxed setting which is ideally suited to this conference and its scientific and social nature.
