Introduction

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 33rd conference of the Society for Environmental Geochemistry and Health (SEGH), I would like to wish you a warm welcome and invite you to join us at Guangzhou, China, 30th June-4th July, 2017.
This annual conference provides an internationally leading platform for interaction between scientists, consultants, regulatory authorities and public servants engaged in the multi-disciplinary areas of environment and health. As known, environmental pollution such as POPs and BFRs have become a serious question that has greatly blocked the economic development and damaged human being’s health. What’s worse, new and emerging contaminants have been popped up and added to the list of human health concerns continually. Nowadays, more and more people in the world have recognized the importance of environment and health. Thus, there is a growing demand for international experts to cooperate with each other to deal with this distressing pollution problem and to examine the interplay between environment pollution and human health. Luckily, great progress in recent years has been made by the environmental chemistry discipline, especially in pollutant detection, environmental behavior, evolution, eco-effect, toxicity, and risk assessment, as well as pollution control. Meanwhile, the scientists make outstanding contributions to the eco-environment protection, human health, and sustainable development in China has also been reported.
