Introduction

On behalf of the New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering (NZSEE) and the Anti-Seismic Systems International Society (ASSISi) we warmly invite you to join us in Wellington, New Zealand, on 27-29 April 2017 for the combined NZSEE Annual Technical Conference and 15th World Conference on Seismic Isolation, Energy Dissipation and Active Vibration Control of Structures.
NZSEE is delighted to be hosting ASSISi’s biennial world conference in New Zealand as part of the annual NZSEE technical conference and looks forward to welcoming a significant contingent of international delegates to enjoy a high quality conference in the capital city of scenic New Zealand.
The conference theme, “the next generation of low damage and resilient structures”, reflects current developments, research and implementation in New Zealand following the severely damaging earthquakes in Christchurch, and international trends for seeking improved earthquake performance from structures.  The theme fits well with the goal of ASSISi in fostering development and acceptance of seismic protection solutions and techniques. The conference will showcase current developments in design practice in New Zealand and internationally for achieving greater resilience in earthquake design of structures and infrastructure. Specific conference sessions will focus on ASSISi key topics of seismic isolation, energy dissipation and vibration control, including invited presentations from ASSISi leaders from around the world.
We believe this conference presents a unique opportunity for sharing the latest international earthquake engineering knowledge and we encourage you to start planning your contributions and attendance at the conference.
The conference venue is the Michael Fowler Centre in the heart of Wellington city, adjacent to its picturesque harbour. Optional technical tours will be offered immediately after the conference showcasing local projects.
Please note the key dates for abstract and paper submission. As the conference date draws closer the website will be updated with details of the keynote speakers, programme and other conference activities.
I look forward to welcoming you all in Wellington.
