Introduction

The Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Fertilization and Activation of Development offers a unique opportunity for junior researchers, such as graduate students, post-docs and early-career researchers, to share their original work through platform talks and poster presentations. This Gordon Research Seminar promotes valuable peer-to-peer interactions, and discussion of the latest advances in the field. It will also include a small number of scientific presentations from respected established investigators, who will also be available for scientific and mentoring discussions with participants. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend both the GRS and its associated Gordon Research Conference (GRC). The GRS gives its attendees the opportunity to engage and make connections within a smaller group of scientists prior to attending the full GRC meeting.

The GRS will focus on the innovative technologies and cutting-edge research applied to the study of gamete maturation, fertilization and early development. Topics to be discussed include epigenetics, metabolism, and gamete interactions, and special attention will be devoted to application of newly developed technologies to gametogenesis and fertilization research and ethical issues surrounding assisted reproductive technologies.
