Metaphor is seen as one of the best tools to unearth teacher belief. In this article, 24 primary and middle school EFL teachers’ belief of teaching and learning were explored through elicited metaphor. This study focused on the changes of these teachers’ belief of listening and speaking while taking a short-time workshop. In the analysis, the significance of elicited metaphor serving as a methodological tool exploring teachers’ belief emerged. Data were collected through elicited metaphors and reflection journal. Based on the collected data, the present study mainly reported the changes of teacher’s belief in terms of teaching and learning and of the role of teacher and students. In the end, the value of elicited metaphor in surfacing primary and middle school teachers’ belief of teaching and learning was affirmed. Suggestions for teacher education were also proposed.
