Introduction

The emergence of high-throughput technology, such as next-generation sequencing and mass spectrometry, has revolutionized the scope of various areas of biology, from molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, and biophysics to applications in biotechnology, biomarker discovery, drug design, diagnostic support systems, etc. This presents exciting opportunities to use, store, and manage rapidly increasing volumes of biological data to help enhance our understanding of the genomes, transcriptomes, and proteomes of various biological systems, the functions of genes and proteins, the interactomes among different biomolecules, and even the relationships between host and pathogens. Unfortunately, the complexities inherent in these -omics data are no longer able to be teased out by traditional laboratory techniques alone.

We have entered a big data era in which interdisciplinary efforts among different domains of biology, medical sciences and bioinformatics are required to discover novel and effective ways to extract meaningful. Thus, we would like to invite submissions of high quality, original papers on any topic related to novel bioinformatics methods for the analysis of high-throughput biological data, new discoveries about the functions, regulation, and interactions of genes and proteins from -omics data, as well as applications of high-throughput technologies to help answer biological or medical questions. We hope to present a platform for researchers around the globe to present and discuss analytical methods or innovative applications using high-throughput biological data.

Submission Topics

Papers are solicited on, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • Next-generation sequencing data analysis of genome, transcriptome, or epigenome

  • Proteome data analysis and translational applications

  • Computational proteomics for protein structure, function, and sequence analysis

  • Biological databases/tools with big data analytics

  • Any novel approaches to high-throughput biological data analysis
