Introduction

The aim of this symposium is to provide a forum to exchange the research ideas about the state of the art of optical ceramics and luminescent materials, and their perspectives applications such as gain media for solid state lasers, ceramic scintillators, windows and domes, transparent armors, envelope for high intensity discharge lamp, and ceramic phosphors for lighting and so on.
